Teach First

Company Profile

The link between low family income and poor educational attainment is greater in the UK than in almost any other developed country. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Teach First is an independent charity that provides the training and support to enable exceptional graduates and experienced professionals to make a real impact in addressing one of the UK’s most damaging social issues, educational disadvantage. At the same time, while transforming the lives of young people in schools around the country, Teach First helps graduates to dramatically enhance their own career potential, in schools and elsewhere, and become part of a movement that is effecting profound change throughout the UK.

Location

7 regions throughout the UK: East Midlands, Kent & Medway, London, North East, North West, West Midlands, Yorkshire & Humber.

We think that these skills not only make inspirational and effective teachers, but also stand out leaders in all fields.

Schemes & Internships

Teach First takes outstanding graduates and experienced professionals and transforms them into inspiring and effective leaders, ready to take on the challenges of teaching and developing influential careers in education and beyond.

At the heart of Teach First is a unique two-year Leadership Development Programme. Challenging, stimulating and practical, it has been designed to develop your leadership skills, giving you the ability to adapt to new or changing situations and inspire enthusiasm and ambition in the classroom.

As an Ambassador you are uniquely positioned to continue to address educational disadvantage by developing the expertise required to effect change at pupil, school and system level. Whatever you choose to do after the programme, Teach First will continue to help you with your leadership journey and to increase your impact and influence.

Comments From Teach First Ambassadors

Mervin Kissoon, ’09 Ambassador:

“I was attracted to the immediate impact that Teach First offered. I was also really attracted to the idea that there was a lot of flexibility, there were other options to make impact on a wider scale, in terms of education and other sectors within leadership.

Anisa Lunat, ’09 Ambassador

“When you wake up you know that no two days are ever going to be the same. Teach First has really kept me on my toes and has made sure that on every step of the way I’ve always been challenged and there’s always been the opportunity for me to grow and develop.”

Olly Offord, ’09 Ambassador

“The first few weeks of the Summer Institute are massively exciting. There’s all these new people and you’re all there for the same thing and you’re all doing something completely new. It was really overwhelming and you wanted to stand back at first but actually when you dived into it was just so much fun.”
